I am generous in my sizing. Please look at my measurements and then MEASURE your child. They have two layers of minky- inside and outside, so they are SUPER cozy on the inside where you want them to be. The length is measured from the top to the bottom of the tail (not including the fin). THey are meant to go up to the chin, so if you only want it to go to child's waist, then size down.
Toddler- 2 years to 3 years ish length- 40" opening- 16" (32" all the way around)
Child- ~4-8 years ish length- 50" opening- 20" (40" all the way around)
Pre-Teen- ~9+ years length- 60" opening- 25" (50" all the way around)
Teen length- 70" opening- 25-30" (50-60" all the way around)
